Questions & Answers
While we are currently not accepting any new adult clients (puppy packages only), we are able to take on new ultrasound teeth cleaning clients.
However, we’d recommend booking in a 15 min consultation for your furiend to visit and to check they are happy in a new environment. We can also then check over suitability for ultrasound teeth cleaning.
The easiest and simplest way, for both you and your furiend, is to carry out maintenance sessions are at the same time as their groom. However, if more than one initial sessions is required, they will need to visit weekly.
Don’t worry if the 4-8 weekly maintenance sessions don’t quite fit with grooms – we can advise re options.
As we are just going live - we are keeping things manual until we transfer the full website over to our new one later this year!
In the meantime - give us a call on 01241 857893 which is the easiest way to get booked in quickly (or pop us a message on our social media channels).
In the event of a cancellation we charge £15 per session/dog if less than 48hrs notice given.
Absolutely!
We want you to be clear about what you are singing up for and as a professional dog groomers, we have separate terms and conditions for ultrasound teeth cleaning which you can find HERE.
I’m afraid so – sometimes dental disease can be too far progressed for us to safely carry out any ultrasound teeth cleaning.
This includes signs of decay/rot and wobbly teeth. In these cases we’d ask you to seek veterinary advice and approval before starting any treatment.
In some cases this would require teeth removal/dental work at vets then we can start on session to prevent further damage.
As with all grooming, your furiend stays with us and normally we don't allow pawrents to stay.
99% of the time, your furiend, while they make you feel guilty for leaving, is much more settled and calm when you leave.
Of course - our salon is set up for more than one dog to visit us.
Prices remain unchanged for multiple dogs but do just let us have all the details when you book in.
The reality is we may not know until we try. However. as a minimum your furiend will need to be able to:
- Comfortably stand/sit on a grooming table for 30 mins
- Let us lift their lift
- Allow us to place a toothbrush head inside (noiseless and vibration less)
If they won’t let you lift their lip at home – then do practice with rewards/treats.
With a bit of patience and time, they can quickly get to know it’s safe and no big scrubbing with a toothbrush is about to take place.
We find training to the 'WAIT' command is super, helpful.
This is the perfect time to start. Prevention is always better than cure!
As dental disease is more than just plaque, regular cleaning will also help ensure bacteria doesn’t build and works under the gum to reduce any inflammation
Visiting a groomers can be stressful for a dog, though levels of stress will all come down to what triggers this (or a group of things that my trigger stack).
We can talk to you about how anxious/nervous they are and the signs that they show so we can monitor during a session but more importantly what things we can do to reduce their levels of stress.
This might involve frequent trips to us before staring any session, meeting the team and getting to know us.
Or it may involve you as a pawrent staying with them during a session.
If your dog is reactive to others, just let us know as we can arrange a visit when no other dogs are in the salon and a closed shop time too.
We’d love a big magic button over door that would change a dogs behaviour when they get to us to help you! However, the key is whether they are just not letting you scrub the teeth with a toothbrush (and will let you lift lip and hold a toothbrush in mouth).
We do occasionally have some dogs who will let us do it but personally I hate when dog groomers/people in industry are called dog whisperers!
It’s sometimes just a diff environment and relationship, where we can stand back and observe behaviour that cane sometimes aid (in exactly the same way that some dogs let their owners do things and won’t let a dog groomer).
As with all things when they are a puppy – Asap!
While their teeth should be pearly white, the habit of having someone lift lips, put toothbrush in mouth is so much easier to help them know it’s safe at the puppy age than later.
It’s the main reason we added an intro session int our new puppy package.
However, they def won’t need an initial session so just ask us to add on maintenance to their regular grooms.
