Millie’s Digest: Sweet Potatoes, Dates for the Diary and a trip to Lunan Bay

Hey all – hope you’ve been having your own Sunday Funday and managed to stay out of the rain!

Millie's Digest 28th Jan Lunan Bay

What’s Been Going on At Millie’s Pet Services?

#1  FURSday Blog

As a Guru stockist we receive lots and lots of questions about cold compressed food. From what is it and how is is it different to normal dry food and what other brands exist. I’ve pulled all this info together into a blog HERE. You may find the video of how a dog digests each type of dry food insightful!

#2  Sunday Bites

I’ve been feeling more than a little guilty this week as work has been a little full on. You know.. that guilty dog mum feeling when you know you may have spent less time than normal with your furiend. That’s why today we cooked up a massive batch of Sweet Potato Chews – You can find the full recipe and instructions over HERE.

#3  Next Available Grooming Dates

We have just one appointment available next week on Friday 2nd at 3 pm and next appointment is then available the following Friday 9th at 3 pm. Do just hit reply or give us a call on 01241 857893. If we have any changes, I’ll make sure we post those dates over on Facebook HERE.

Also a very quick gentle reminder that from tomorrow our opening days are now Monday and Wed-Saturday.

We will be closed on a Tuesday not Monday’s ongoing.

What I’ve Been Reading:

Hold the Date – The Scottish Pet Show is due to take place between 31st August and 2nd September at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh. Tickets are yet to go on sale but you can register HERE to be notified when they do and find out more about the show.

I’ve been given a little heads up that Poppy’s Picnic, one of the UK’s newest raw dog food subscriptions, will be appearing on Dragon’s Den tonight (Sunday). You can catch them on BBC 2 at 8 pm.

Two new Dog Jog events have been announced in Scotland. These will take place on Saturday 28th July in Glasgow and Sunday 29th July in Edinburgh. Fancy getting a few friends together and taking part? You can enter individually or as a group and also run the 5k for charity. Let us know if you do register as we’re planning on attending the Edinburgh event and would love to say hi! Maybe a a little doggy picnic afterwards?

What’s in Millie’s Shopping Cart:

We all know that dogs are creatures of habit but I’m always so surprised how quickly they can pick new ones up!

Millie’s new favourite is her Lily’s Bedtime Biscuit which she has been getting just before bed, replacing one of our pick’n’mix treats.

I’m not sure we are going to be able to go back now. Hand baked with yoghurt, honey, passion and chamomile flowers – she’s def not been complaining and woofed it down each night!

Lunan Bay Dog Walk

Our Must Visit Business of The Week – Lunan Bay Diner:

I always forget how close we are to Lunan Bay and so last week, we jumped in the car and headed up to Lunan Bay for our Sunday Funday adventure.

Lunan Bay Diner is open all year round and just a stone throw from the car park. While they operate reduced hours (mainly weekends) during winter, it’s the perfect place to grab a hot cuppa, some soup or a yummy scone, post a brisk walk along the beach. Lots of outdoor space but do be warned that they take advance bookings.

Check out their Facebook page HERE in advance.

Until the next Millie’s Digest.. have a fab week!

Vicky (and Millie too) xx
