REASONS TO USE A SELF SERVICE DOG WASH
No Fur or Mess at Home
We’ve all been there. Our furiends may be looking super clean post their bath but there is mud and fur everywhere. While the bath can look pretty grim post a dog bathing session for some reason, you end up spending another hour cleaning the bathroom floor and tiles then any room you’ve used to dry them in! Plus you have that lingering wet dog smell too!
With our self-service dog wash, you can literally walk out the door and leave the mess behind.
Quicker Drying Time
When it comes to drying your dog, along with having access to a fast dry spray to prepare your dogs coat before drying, our self service also offers the use of our professional dryers/blasters. These will drastically reduce your drying time.
If you can dry your dog quicker, you’ll be able to spend more time brushing your dog as it’s only once dry that you will really see the dead hair start to come out. And if you have a curly haired dog, then using a professional dryer will help with de-matting and smoothing their coat too! A win-win-win?
Take the Pressure Off Your Back and Knees
Whether you choose to stand or kneel when bathing your dog at home, it’s likely to take a toll on one part of your body!
Our equipment means that you can stand upright while bathing and drying your dog. We use a height adjustable bath with a sliding door that allows your dog to access the bath easily and for you to adjust exactly to your own height. This ensures you don’t need to pick up your dog to put them in the bath as well as taking the pressure off during the bathing process and our drying table works in the same way.
Access to Professional Tools and Shampoos
Save on Costs
Let’s not beat around the bush on this one. It’s an obvious benefit in that you are not having to pay for the time of a bather to wash and dry your dog. Instead, you are using your own time.
Depending on the time you spend at a self-service dog wash, this can typically be 50-60% of the cost of a bath and brush appointment. Though it’s ultimately your choice whether you wish to fully dry or brush your dog while in the facilities.

Questions & Answers
How much time will I need?
Assuming you are planning to fully bathe and dry your dog, we'd suggest:
- Small Dogs - 45 mins
- Medium Dogs - 60 mins
- Large Dogs - up to 90 mins
However, this will always depend on the type of coat and how your dog is when bathed and dried.
What if I need more time than I originally booked?
Do I need to pre-book?
How do I book?
What days and times are available?
Self Service Dog Wash days and times are normally: Monday (10 am to 5 pm), Wednesday (10 am to 5 pm), Thursday (10 am to 5 pm) and Sunday (12 noon to 4 pm).
We will have occasional Saturdays and other times available subject to our grooming commitments. Do check our online availability where appointments will be available up to 1 month in advance.
Do I need to be a certain age?
Can I bring more than one dog?
For small and medium dogs - of course! We just ask that dogs are kept on leads and that there is one pawrent per dog.
For larger dogs, we'd always recommend bringing them in one at a time due to the length of time they'd be waiting while the other is being bathed and dried.
Is there a limit on the dog's size or weight?
From mini Yorkies to Newfoundlands and Malamutes, we've groomed all sizes of dogs, so our equipment is set up for them too.
Our big purple bath Barney can take up to 140kg, with our table taking up to 100kg. We do however find that larger dogs prefer to be dried on the floor rather than the table. It's less stressful for them and they have more room to move too.
Will someone show me how to use everything?
Not quite sure what shampoo will help restore their glossy coat or how many times you should shampoo them? Wondering which brush or comb will help de-matt those problem areas? Not sure how to get that ‘fluffy’ teddy bear look while drying?
As all of our team are trained in bathing and drying, you'll have on-hand expert advice throughout your appointment as well as being shown how the equipment works.
Do I need to be able to lift my dog into the bath or onto the table?
Both our bath and drying tables are height adjustable limiting the need for you to lift your dog. We find many will step into the bath and onto the table with a little coaxing or bribe with a treat ;0)
For some larger dogs, they may need a little bit of help and we'd be happy to assist.
Can I bring my own shampoo?
Can the whole family come along?
Bathing and drying your dog can be a great opportunity to bond with them. And for dogs who are anxious/nervous or a larger breed, having more than one members of the family to provide an extra pair of hands can be useful.
However due to the space available and to ensure the dogs remain stress-free, we recommend no more than 3 people per dog.
Can I use your scissors/clippers to groom my dog too?
Can you cut my dog's nails during the appointment?
Is the self service dog wash suitable for puppies?
A big yes! This is the pawfect chance to get them used to all the smells and sounds of a grooming salon and a great way to increase their frequency between grooms too.
Puppies should have had all vaccinations before their first appointment - do just get in touch if you'd like to discuss.
What do I need to bring with me?
You, your furiend and their lead! We then provide everything you'd need to both bath and dry your dog.
We even have treats on hand to help them enjoy the session, though if you'd prefer to bring your own, please do so!
If you know that your dog doesn't enjoy hairdryers/dryers, then do feel free to bring along their drying coat to pop on afterward too ;0) You could then always choose to give them a good dry with our towels and pop it on before heading home!
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
My dog is in season – can I still use the self service dog wash?
To ensure all of our furiends are happy when using our services (including those male dogs who visit our shop and use our services), we are unfortunately unable to accept dogs while they are in season.
Personally, we'd never recommend grooming a dog while in season as they may already be experiencing some mild discomfort.
Will there be any other dogs in at the same time?
While dogs are allowed in our shop area throughout your appointment, you will always have the self service dog wash area entirely to your self.
Perfect for those who may be a little more reactive or not sociable with other dogs.
